Some more steamers.
The model on the left was described as
"First preproduction trial run to prove new tooling for all parts, assembly and spraying."
in the auction catalogue for the 2003 sale of Patrick O'Dowd's collection. Patrick was Project Leader for European Research and
Development from 1968.
Model on the right was one of the final trial runs before the tyres were changed to grey. I have to say I thought this was a missed opportunity. The whole livery of the model is wrong, it could have been so much better. The Corgi version was absolutely correct.

These are both listed as production models, (issue 1 & 2) although neither have any inscription on the underside of the roof. The white roll version is extremely rare to the point that I've never seen another one, and was considered a preproduction model in some references.
