Putting back pictures into your PB account wont make them visible here on the forum unless you start paying a fee to them. Your best option is to switch to another host as I did and I am currently happy using a 'postimage' free account.

What I meant by putting them back, was onto our forum here, by using a different host

some great info in this thread...so much so i found one on ebay and won a roll pin/sping axel model today...ill share details when i get it
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

i received the cycle and it has the roll/spring pin...it has the base braces...nice condition overall except for one of the handle bars is broken off...so how many have we got now?

That is good news Dan,
Sometimes we speak of the locality where these models were first shipped to. I know we can’t be certain for sure of exact original shipping destination but it is interesting that of the 5 production examples known, 3 have popped up in the States,(assuming yours was USA) one in Australia
and the other in Antonin's spares box. :D
Like Jason I am very fond of the first code in a production model and was pretty pleased to find this one.

Plus the one on the 78 pre-pro. Do we know if there is more than one pre-pro in existence?

Thanks for reloading the two pics, good to see thread complete again. I too am now the pleased owner of the second type axle.
Another triumph for 2017 you could say. ;)
Here is a composite pic of the three axles in order of production from left to right. All are on the early casting with the thin ribs (braces) on the base.
There may be one more type of axle they tried in this early period before settling on the steel dome head riveted, I will try and get a suitable photo.

Fantastic found Yellowfoden & Brad and thanks for the confirmation of the variation with roll pin (spring pin). It is almost incredible that even after 60 years we are all together here findind and confirming new variations.

It seems to me that this is an overlooked variation rather than something rare (c.f. 41a code 1).
